Importing certain MIDI files fails and crashes Logic

  1. Create a MIDI region with notes in Logic Pro X
  2. Export to MIDI
  3. Create a new Synthesizer V track
  4. Import MIDI track
  5. Confirm selected tracks
  6. CRASH!

NOTE: What makes this MIDI file unique is that it includes a SMPTE offset:
MetaMessage(‘smpte_offset’, frame_rate=24, hours=33, minutes=0, seconds=0, frames=0, sub_frames=0, time=0)

MIDI file and crash report enclosed:
Archive.zip (36.6 KB)

Mac OS Catalina 10.15.7 (16 Gb Ram)
Logic Pro 10.6.3
Synthesizer V Studio Pro 1.8.0b1
V108.

Encountering a similar issue.

  1. Open SV as a standalone program (which automatically opens an empty project)
  2. Import a certain MIDI file either by using “Import” from the top menu or drag-and-drop then “Reopen as New Project”
  3. CRASH

In contrast, importing the same MIDI file using “Import as Tracks” from the top menu or drag-and-drop then “Create New Tracks” works as expected without causing any problem.

The problematic MIDI file is this one downloaded from MidiShow. Import track 2, which contains 360 notes. If needed, I can ask the author if I can upload it here.
